I bought both graddaughters a pair of these the Venom Skate purple wheels and the Laser 7.9 (blue wheels). I'm glad that we went to a store and tried them on first. They run two sizes too small. The 4 year old wears a regular shoe, size 11; I bought her a size 13 skate. The 8 year old wears a size 2 youth; I bought her a size 4 skate.

These wrist guards do not look like they will offer much protection in case of a fall. These elbow and knee pads might be helpful to avoid bruises in minor falls, but the same protection can be achieved with full pants and thick shirt. It is flimsy and cheap in look and feel, something you may find in 99c or dollar store. The material is of low quality. This is something you would not expect to see in Walmart, Target or Sports Authority. I would never have bought it if I could see it and feel it like in a brick and mortar store. Even if I bought it from a local store, it would be easy to return it. When buying from Amazon, at least reasonable quality is expected.

DAKINE Mission Pack (Bandon) Review

I needed a new backpack, one with a laptop compartment. Other reviews said this backpack was too big, I think it's just right. I fit a 15 inch laptop, two textbooks, and a notebook and it's pretty much full. Here's some of the features and what I think about them:

Size- Great, holds as much as you would want to put on your back.
Storage- Plenty of extra pockets, pen holders; the sunglasses/goggles holders are weird if you're using this for school.
Comfort- The shoulder straps are very comfortable and the chest strap distributes weight well; I don't use the waist strap, but it doesn't get in the way (although there is nowhere to store it).
Style- I love the "Bomber" color scheme; I was torn between Bomber and Darkwater, but Bomber was on sale.
Durability- Haven't had it long enough to begin to wear, but you can tell that it is extremely well made and should last several years.

*Note- 15 to 16 inch laptops are about the biggest you'll fit in the sleeve. Also, a lot of backpacks have MP3 player slots and places for the earbuds to come out; this backpack is devoid of any such frivolity, which I find as a plus.
