This has to be one of the coolest items on Amazon. My family visited Prague last winter and the temp never got above 15 degrees fahrenheit the whole time we were there. My Texas mother-in-law made a comment how it sure would be nice to have one of those old Russian/Soviet style hats when it was 5 degrees one day. Note to self. When we returned to the states, MIL's birthday rolled around in October. Time to buy a (as I found out on Amazon) ushanka. I had my father-in-law measure her melon and I took the advice of other proud ushanka owners and ordered the next size up. Mother-in-law would have been fine with the size on the sizing chart. Just like the other reviewers, the package took about a month to arrive, so be patient, it will get there. FIL and MIL took a long look at the package from Russia and my FIL made my MIL open the package on the porch so as not to spill any old-style Soviet ideology on their carpet. Took MIL a minute or two to figure out what it was and was thrilled with the hat and the attached hammer and sickle medallion. The hat has generated buzz here in Texas and my parents-in-law had their picture taken with the white ushanka and a black ushanka my father-in-law already had in the closet and put self-same pic on their Christmas card. They also enjoyed getting their included kopek coin. This is an awesome item for a gift to someone you love including yourself. We plan on getting four more for next winter.
