I have bought around 4 pairs of Globe shoes now and I have always been impressed by the build quality. They are reinforced with some kind of suede material and the tongues are joined to the shoe for extra durability. I only ruined one pair by dropping hot coals from a fire on to one of them, and even then I didn't notice it happened until the next day when I noticed a hole in my laces and the leather -- I would say the reinforced material saved the coal from burning through the shoe.
